Double Whammy! Design 1 portfolio.

In case anyone is wondering what Design 1 is like, here's what I've had to do for the class so far. (Scanned and optimized for viewing on the web.)

HOT / COLD / WET / DRY
Made from magazine collage. Each square is actually 4" x 4" in real life.

Organic/Geometric.
Study of positive and negative space of two shapes (cute bunny head and tulip/squid.. you choose if its a tulip or a cute squid.)
Done in india ink on bristol board.

A logo made from my initials ( e s m ) -- india ink on bristol board.

A crappy black and white replication of Picasso's "Old Guitarist", using paint. Totally not proud of this one!

Expressive letter form assignment. The word is "drown."

Well, that's it... except for the final project, which I'm working on now, and it's too big to scan. If anyone actually checks this.. uh.. enjoy?

I had an update of new artwork ready, buuut my hard drive died and I lost all of my recent artwork, as well as the originals (full size, non-watermarked) of most of my digital art.

I decided to show a sorta "Work in progress" display for the image I'm currently working on.

The reason? Well, this website is meant to be supplemental--showing things that are EXTRA to my website. A bonus of sorts!

So here is the image I'm working on (sorry the size is large.. if you think it's big now, I actually work on it at 4 times this size.)

^ The rough sketch. At this point, I'm using the program ComicWorks (google it for info.)

At this point I start inking. Most if not all details are added at this point.

After I finish inking I erase the original sketch. I save the image at full size as a BMP to keep as much quality as I can. I switch over to a cheap, free coloringn program called openCanvas. I should really learn to use Photoshop. In openCanvas, I start coloring. I usually start with skin.

More colorin!

UNFORTUNATELY I can't show you any more right now. I haven't gotten anymore done. But I'll update a few more times before the finished result.

I hope that was .. SORTA interesting at least?

Here's some crap I sketched for someone real fast. I hate it. whatever.

This is the cover of one of my sketchpads. I got sick of all of my sketchbooks looking the same, so I painted this one..

This is my "materials" picha.. you can see the craaaappy cheap paintbrushes and craftpaint I used, on the left. I didnt sketch the painting beforehad, so I didnt use any pencils. I just put some paint on the sketchbook and started painting.. I like the result although it was rather risky.. I thought I would make something HIDEOUS, since I never really paint. Hahah..

It was fun though.

A quick openCanvas sketch I did.. I like it. Though it was fast and raaather messy, as you can tell. I like the eye. The hair would be cuter if it were less sloppy..
